## Highlights
### Pāʻū riders
The most iconic part of the parade. Hawaiian women ride horseback in flowing pāʻū skirts, each representing one of the major Hawaiian islands. Each princess's outfit is the color and flower of her island:
- Hawaiʻi: red, ʻōhiʻa lehua
- Maui: pink, lokelani
- Oʻahu: yellow, ʻilima
- Kauaʻi: purple, mokihana
- Molokaʻi: green, kukui
- Lānaʻi: orange, kaunaʻoa
- Niʻihau: white, pūpū shell
- Kahoʻolawe: gray, hinahina
### Floral floats
Floats are massive, hand-decorated with thousands of fresh tropical flowers. Built by community organizations over weeks.
### Marching bands
Every high school in Honolulu sends its marching band. Kamehameha Schools' band is a perennial favorite.
