Wahiawā
Central Oahu's farm town. Dole Plantation, pineapple maze, the road to the North Shore.
About Wahiawā
Wahiawā sits in the middle of Oʻahu, on the plateau between the Koʻolau and Waiʻanae mountain ranges. It's a farming and military town — Schofield Barracks is across the road — and most visitors blow through it on the way to the North Shore.
But the town deserves a stop. The Dole Plantation is here, with the world's largest maze (8 acres of pineapple-themed pathways). The Wahiawā Botanical Garden is free and rarely crowded — 27 acres of mature tropical species in a deep valley microclimate.
Kemoʻo Farms produces some of the best beef on the island. The town has a deep plantation-era history visible in the wooden storefronts and the Filipino-Hawaiian fusion food.
